Explore Real Estate in Art & Architecture Communities
The Arts and Architecture communities of the Florida Gulf Coast follow the tenets of New Urbanism, likely inspired by the success of Seaside, the first completely New Urbanist town in the world. It was constructed around the following ideas: that homes should be constructed in an approved style, that each building project must use sustainable methods and materials, that the community must be designed around public spaces and facilities, and that alternative transport methods (walking, biking, or taking the train) should be at the forefront of the design.
The homes in Seaside encompass a range of architectural styles, but there are still rules and regulations that each construction must adhere to. This is to ensure that the town feels interconnected, like part of one whole.
However other communities, such as Alys Beach or Rosemary Beach, have stricter guidelines for architectural styles. The homes and buildings in Alys Beach, for example, are all designed in a Bermudan style, while the homes and buildings in Rosemary Beach lean towards Dutch West Indies, giving each area its own unique flair.
Other times, specific areas within the community will have a style allocated to them, which would differ from another area. However, each community combines excellent locations, stunning beaches and water views, and a warm, welcoming environment, making real estate in the Florida Gulf Coast extremely sought-after.

Seaside, as the blueprint for these communities, has a town center that is but a short walk away from every single home in the town. This area is composed of stores and charming boutiques, restaurants, and green spaces, making this the central location for residents to do some necessary shopping, check off things from their to-do list, and hang out.
The defining characteristic of these communities is that public facilities, such as schools, fitness or community centers, beaches, and libraries, are all easily accessible and found all across the community. Residential neighborhoods are built with small streets to deter traffic, whilst public transportation is on time and readily available. These things are not an afterthought, but rather what the community is built around. This is because the Arts and Architecture communities of the Florida Gulf Coast are designed with the happiness of residents and the preservation of the natural environment in mind.
